Amethyst Quartz Cluster

The specimen has a display oriented arrangement of amethyst quartz crystals. A couple slightly longer crystals form the display focus, and a small twin catches the eye. The complete, stubby to stout crystals are close to diagnostic for the locality. Good amethyst colour is present, with an internal smoky yellow brown surround. The amethyst lies in an internal zone, and the crystals are moderately lustrous. As with crystals from this location, the crystal habit tends toward double terminations. This is a showy cluster of small, partly clear and light-smoky crystals, with small hematite chunks floating internally. The formation is entirely quartz with some iron oxide staining. The two main crystals reach 2 cm. Some of the terminations do have minor abrasions.
