Cerussite, Tsumeb Mine, Namibia
The specimen consists of a modified crystal growth of Cerussite. The colour is light yellow-brown. Regarding the crystals, one is looking at modifications regarding the crystal's surface finish which is actually intricate. Numerous shallow geometric angular indents have created a texture that one could liken to knitted wool or tapestry. Certainly this tapestry goes further to have created a patchwork of connected surface treatments that are underpinned by geometry. The surface also is concave which is not typical for Cerussite and even concave rounded, moving from the front plane to the edge plane. The end result is a piece that is sculptural in the abstract sense. There are a couple of very minor contacts but nothing that is eye-sore.
