Malachite on Azurite Floater

Malachite on Azurite Floater

Tsumeb Mine, Namibia

Size: 3.1 x 2.5 x 1.1 cm (Miniature)

The specimen consists of an intergrown cluster of Azurite crystals in the form of a floater with some Limonitic and Duftitic matrix residue. This is a rather special thumbnail specimen owing to the nature of the crystal forms and the formation of the cluster. The piece is sculptural and brut with crystal surfaces both lustrous and smooth as well as textured and matt. There is a point at the top of a single crystal where two spots of Malachite pseudomorph after Azurite occur, otherwise the specimen is Azurite. The color is deep blue-black with some electric flashes that catch the eye.
