Plancheite on Native Copper and Calcite

Plancheite on Native Copper and Calcite

Tsumeb Mine, Namibia

Size: 5.9 x 3 x 2.3 cm (Small Cabinet)

The specimen is a treat, consisting of a clustered mass of small clusters of Calcite crystals with untarnished Native Copper inclusions. Here and there the Copper extends beyond the crystal in the form of an extruded thin plate where it is covered with turquoise blue Plancheite. To explain the formation structure of the stone, numerous small cluster groups of rhombic Calcite crystals are themselves connected to each other with spaces between. the spaces then have created an interconnected series of stepped cavities.
