Smithsonite & Azurite

Smithsonite & Azurite

Tsumeb Mine, Tsumeb, Otjikoto Region, Namibia

Size: 3 x 1.7 x 1.6 cm (Thumbnail)

An attractive azurite specimen with good sized crystals of an intense blue color, light enough that vivid hues of blue show through. The crystals are sharp with chiseled terminations. There is grey white smithsonite deposited on the surface of the azurite. The matrix is made up of small gemmy green crystals, smithsonite or arsentsumebite? There is a couple of small abrasions on the terminations of the azurite.
