The specimen has sturmanite on and grown into a loosely compacted very fine grained hematite matrix. The sturmanite has a typical deep yellow/amber gemmy colour with a degree of translucency in the core of the crystals. The crystals of sturmanite are large to medium tabular hexagonal pyramidal discs. The main interconnected disc measures 2.8cm wide and 1.4cm deep. This is an old specimen from finds in the 80's.
