Chrysocolla on Cuprite

Chrysocolla on Cuprite

Mashamba West Mine, Sicomines copper-cobalt project, Mutshatsha, Lualaba, DR Congo

Size: 4.7 x 3 x 1.7 cm (Miniature)

The specimen has four interconnected crystals of cuprite in a stepped structure of coboctahedral crystals. The largest of the cuprite crystals measure 1.2cm. The crystals are beautifully geometrix and architectural. The cuprite holds the specimen together and there is a small bit of residual chrysocolla still attached. The crystals of cuprite glow cherry red when back lit.
