Brucite and Sturmanite on Matrix, N'Chwaning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape, South Africa.
An outstanding association specimen here from finds in March 2005. The specimen is made up of a deposit of light blue/green Brucite on a host matrix with flat disc shaped crystals of gemmy yellow Sturmanite and at the matrix base there is micro Hematite crystals. Brucite is in a massive form is common from the Kalahari Manganese Field, crystalline Brucite as this one is, is not very common. The Brucite cluster reached 18mm across with good lustre. There is an abrasion on the one side of the Brucite. The Sturmanite have a fabulous lustre, colour and semi-translucent quality with disc shaped crystals up to 9mm sporadically deposited onto the matrix. Overall there is no damage to note on the Sturmanite.
