Kolwezi Mine, Kolwezi, Mutshatsha, Lualaba, DR Congo

Size: 6.2 x 2.5 x 2.3 cm (Small Cabinet)

The specimen has crystals of cobaltoan calcite on a calcite matrix. Modified rhombic crystals of calcite have a deep magenta value very closely mimic the frosted surface luster of smithsonite. There is a very nice aggregate spread of crystals in a shallow recess. The pink value has a deep tone and the crystals have a subtle frosted luster with intricate delicate detail. The largest crystal is 0.8cm across. A couple of minor abrasions along the edges of the specimen.
