The specimen has a thin 2mm deposit of blue-turquoise hemimorphite on a compacted clay like matrix which has been sawn on the under side. The hemimorphite is translucent and pure creating a colour impact. There is a measure of colour shift as the varying depth of the hemimorphite layers create some deeper colour values.
