Malachite on Cobaltoan Calcite

Malachite on Cobaltoan Calcite

Kakanda South Mine, Kakanda deposit, Lubudi, Lualaba, DR Congo

Size: 5.7 x 3.6 x 3.3 cm (Small Cabinet)

The specimen has one face of the matrix deposited of malachite on pink cobaltoan calcite. The calcite has created a botryoidal formation covering display face edge to edge. The crystals are gemmy, lustrous and made up of multiple scalene crystals intergrown with one another. This is from production earlier this year.  A couple of small abrasions are hardly notable on the calcite.
