Quartz on Chrysocolla on Malachite

Quartz on Chrysocolla on Malachite

Skorpion Mine, Karas Region Namibia

Size: 7.1 x 2.8 x 1.2 cm (Small Cabinet)

From finds in 2018, the year before the Skorpion Zinc Mine closed, this specimen is made up of a deposit of Quartz drusy over a vug filled with Chrysocolla on Malachite. The colour of the Chrysocolla comes through the fine-grained Quartz drusy. The largest ball of Chrysocolla measures 10mm. The specimen is a very nice thin and elongate sandwich-like specimen. In the matrix, there is also a black mineral which I believe to be Hetaerolite.
