N'Chwaning I Mine, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape, South Africa.

Size: 2 x 3.2 x 2.1 cm (Thumbnail)

An old specimen here from the late 70s early 80's which is made up of two generation growth of rhodochrosite on a host matrix. The two generations can be seen on the sides where it came off of a larger piece. The colour at the surface is a lovely milky pink with crystals in a thin blade-like form. Below the surface rhodochrosite there is a layer of cherry wine red rhodochrosite.
