Calcite

N'Chwaning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape, South Africa

Size: 2.9 x 3.1 x 2.2 cm (Miniature)

The specimen has a base of rough crystalline calcite with a large calcite crystal grown out above. The crystal form is founded in a rhombic habit with some surface plane modifications in the form of bevells towards corners and edges. Then one of the top rhombic crystal edges turns downwards across the side surface plane creating twinned divide with a number of mirror shapes dedicated to a modified twinned crystal surface. The crystal surface is partly matt with some semi gloss surface planes inbetween. There are a couple of abrasions on some edges.
