Hausmannite on Andradite

Hausmannite on Andradite

N'Chwaning II Mine, Kalahari Manganese Field, Northern Cape, South Africa

Size: 3.3 x 2 x 1.4cm (Miniature)

From finds in January 1999 the specimen is made up of fine pseudo-octahedral pagoda-shaped crystals of hausmannite up to 0.7cm which have grouped together on the top part of the matrix. The matrix is covered with small light red andradite garnets and with the black hausmannite there is a lovely colour contrast.
