An attractive specimen here which is made up of a deposit of manganoan calcite on rhodochrosite. The rhodochrosite are tiny rhombic crystals which have intergrown with one another to form botryoids. The rhodochrosite is a light peach colour. Onto the rhodochrosite crystals of off white coloured manganoan calcite have been deposited sporadically. The colour contrast between the two mineral species is very nice. The manganoan calcite fluoresces under long wave UV light.
